One of the most liberating things I ever learned is that nothing in the universe, including ourselves, derives its meaning or value from anyone’s limited perspective. Everything we ever hope to be or achieve is already present in the fabric of our makeup and the unfolding path of our life.
The world teaches that there is no provision, only lack, and that we exist solely to plug up the material and emotional leakage of the universe. That is why we work so hard at becoming Mr. or Ms. Job Title, acquiring approval from others, and buying things we don’t need — as if the “window dressing” of obtaining adds value to us. But we are already who we are supposed to be. Life is just a matter of unpacking what’s in there.
A painting I came across once first inspired the idea for this site. I keep a framed print of it on the wall next to my desk to remind me of the lessons I found there. It is the value of simple being and the pleasure of finding satisfaction in that moment.
